Petra mountains. Ancient name of Petra was Rekem. Petra was the capital of the Nabataeans and their caravan trade centre. Nabataen Arabs built city of Petra from 800 BC to 100 AD.  Petra was a fortress, carved out of rocky rocks in an area which was almost unapproachable.
