Jabbok יַבֹּק means emptying. In Ge 32 Jacob took his two wives, and his two slave-girls, and his eleven children. And he passed over the ford Jabbok. There Jacob wrestled with God and with men, and prevailed. And God blessed Jacob there. And Jacob called the name of the place Penuel, because there he saw God "face to face".

It is very interesting that Jabbok means emptying, because there Jacob emptied himself, because God touched his hip socket. And  when he passed over Penuel, he  limped on his thigh.
